Things to do in Westwood
Home of UCLA, Westwood, Los Angeles is a commercial and residential neighborhood in the northern part of the city. This neighborhood has a major shopping district filled with restaurants, movie theaters, and all other forms of entertainment.
The neighborhood started development in 1919, with the university opening in 1929. Residential areas like Westwppd Village were built upon from the late 1920s through the 1930s.
There is no shortage of entertainment in Westwood for families or adults. There are two historic cinemas in the city. The Fox Village Theater was opened in 1931 and the Bruin Theater was opened in 1937 and hosted many notable Hollywood premieres over the decades. The Hammer Museum, a museum affiliated with the university, is known for its progressive collection of artist-centric exhibitions and public programs.
Families can enjoy barbeque pits, a baseball diamond, outdoor basketball courts, a children’s play area, and much more at the Westwood Recreation Center. Residents can also attend Holmby Park, a public park right around the corner.
